Bio

Gamyzhae Williams is a senior at Georgia Southern University majoring in Chemistry, with growing experience in environmental health and biomedical research. She conducts research under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Gato, focusing on PFAS exposure and its effects on adipose tissue using SpragueDawley mice. Her work reflects her broader interest in understanding how environmental contaminants influence biological systems and contribute to longterm health outcomes.

Through the MSDT–One Health program, she hopes to gain strong mentorship, clearer guidance on navigating research opportunities, and a deeper understanding of how human, environmental, and social factors shape public health. She wants to learn how to ask better questions, communicate her goals more confidently, and build the professional skills she needs to move forward in her academic journey. She's also hoping to broaden her perspective by connecting her interests in toxicology, environmental health, and biomedical research to the One Health framework. Overall, she wants this program to help her grow as a scientist, strengthen her confidence, and prepare for the next steps in her career.
