Eugenia Chaideftou

Dr. Eugenia Chaideftou is an environmental scientist and scholar with extensive expertise in environmental health and toxicology, and the integrated risk assessment of chemicals. She is actively involved in academic teaching, most recently at DEREE – The American College of Greece, where she covers topics such as Contemporary Environmental Issues and Environmental Health. 

Her career spans leading academic institutions and regulatory bodies across Europe, including research and expert roles at the Medical University of Innsbruck and Masaryk University (RECETOX), as well as at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), where she contributed to pesticide ecotoxicology assessments and regulatory evaluations. She also has a strong foundation in regulatory science from her long-term work at the Benaki Phytopathological Institute, alongside significant involvement in major EU-funded research initiatives. 

Dr. Chaideftou holds a PhD in Environmental and Natural Resources Management and an MSc in Environmental Sciences, and is currently further specializing in toxicology within a One Health framework. She is actively engaged in the international scientific community through editorial roles with Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management and Fire Ecology, and as a member of the SETAC Europe Scientific Committee. 

She has an extensive and well-established publication record and is widely cited for her contributions, reflecting the impact of her work at the interface of science, policy, and sustainable environmental management.
