Bio

Alyssa Nguyen is an undergraduate majoring in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology with a specialization in Wildlife Health. She has over a year of research experience studying wolf behavior and its implications for human–wildlife conflict, with a focus on how animal behavior, environmental conditions, and human activity interact to influence wildlife health and management outcomes.

Her academic and research interests are grounded in a One Health perspective, particularly the ways environmental stressors and anthropogenic pressures affect animal health and have downstream impacts on ecosystems and human communities. Alyssa is especially interested in applying interdisciplinary science to address challenges at the intersection of wildlife conservation, environmental health, and disease prevention.

Alyssa plans to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with the goal of working in wildlife veterinary medicine and wildlife health. Through the MSDT-One Health program, she hopes to expand her exposure to toxicology and environmental health frameworks, strengthen her research skills, and gain mentorship that will help her integrate One Health approaches into her future career.
