Ava Mitchell

Ava Mitchell is a junior at the University of California, Davis, pursuing a bachelor's in Environmental Toxicology. She is an active member on the Davis campus, serving as secretary of the Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP), where she helps students connect with professionals in their field. Furthermore, she is an intern with the UC Davis Sheep Mowers, researching how sheep create multifunctional green spaces that maximize cultural and environmental values at UC Davis. Ava’s latest position is as a research assistant in the Whitehead lab; she is working with Dr. Nicole McNabb-Kelada to research how developmental PCB-153 exposure affects ecologically relevant behavioral outcomes and the underlying molecular mechanisms of Fundulus Heteroclitus. As an MSDT One-Health mentee, Ava aims to better understand the intersectionality between toxicology, the environment, and human health while establishing meaningful professional connections and acquiring lifelong career skills.
